My Favorite Things - Wednesday Sketch Challenge #535

Hello everyone!   It is Wednesday and that means another Wednesday Sketch Challenge for My Favorite Things.   Use my card for inspiration and create your own.  Visit the MFT blog in order to click the link to enter your own creation for a chance to win a $50 gift card!

My card today was created using the sketch diagram above as my layout inspiration.  To kick it off I used the Mini Cloud Edges Stencil and Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide Ink to stencil/ink blend the background panel which I trimmed down slightly from full A2.

I adhered the panel I'd just stencilled to a white panel and wrapped a strip of white cardstock around and adhered on the reverse.  This was then applied to the card base and set to one side.

I used the second smallest frame from Wonky Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-namics and cut once from white cardstock and a second time from Grapesicle cardstock.  I layered and offset them and adhered to the card panel.

On Copic friendly cardstock I stamped my favourite dragon image from Magical Dragons together with two flame images and coloured him with Copic markers.  Points were highlighted with a white gel pen and the images fussy cut, backed with foam tape and applied.

To finish up the card I stamped the sentiment with Versamark Ink and heat embossed in white on more Grapesicle cardstock.   I die cut using a die from the Stitched Sentiment Strips Die-namics.   This was backed with foam tape and tucked into position.

A few sparkling clear sequins complete the scene.

I look forward to seeing all of your projects as you enter the challenge.  Happy crafting!

Birch Trees Background Stamp - Hello Bluebird Stamps

Today I'm sharing my final card for Hello Bluebird Stamps latest release and this one features the new Birch Trees background stamp.  I paired this background image with Frosty Mornings from Hello Bluebird, together with tree tops from Pond Builder and of course their Grassy Knoll die.

This background stamp has a lot of bold areas.  A Misti or other stamping platform is going to be a huge help to you.   To get a good impression I placed the stamp into my Misti and I attached the cardstock to the door of it (kind of the wrong way round, but it really helps).    The first inking was with Versamark Ink and subsequent inkings were with my coloured ink - the juicier the better, foam pad ink pads would be best.

I ink blended my Pond Builder tree-tops and my Grassy Knoll portion with two shades of Distress Oxide Inks and then I spattered on some texture using an old toothbrush and some watered down paint.  These green portions were backed with foam tape and applied.

The Frosty Mornings characters were stamped and Copic coloured, points were highlighted with a white gel pen and they were die cut and backed with foam tape and applied to the scene.

To finish up, I stamped the sentiment on black cardstock using Versamark Ink and heat embossed in white, this was applied with foam tape and a few sparkling clear sequins completed the scene.

The decorative panel was applied to a sturdy cardstock base and the card was complete.

Happy crafting!

Simple Stripe Background Stamp - Hello Bluebird Stamps

Hi!   This new card for Hello Bluebird Stamps uses their new background stamp called 'Simple Stripe'.  I paired this background image with Storybook Friends and the Hello Friend word die and the grass strip of course was made using the Grassy Knoll die.   Framing out the scene is the Gallery Frame #2 die.

I placed my stamp in my Misti and inked it up and stamped and then repeated the process for a nice smooth finish.  I die cut some blue cardstock using the Grassy Knoll die and stuck it behind the Gallery Frame die cut, backed with foam tape and applied.

I stamped my images from Storybook Friends and Copic coloured, die cut and highlighted and also adhered with foam tape.

I made several die cuts of the Hello Friends word die, several in white and one more time with the same blue cardstock used for the grass.  I adhered them in stacks and then followed the stripes on the background to adhere them to the scene.

A few sparkling clear sequins were adhered and the decorative panel applied to a sturdy white cardstock base.   Card completed!

Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting!

By The Sea Scenic Background Stamp - Hello Bluebird Stamps

Hello, welcome to my blog friends!  Today I've a new card for Hello Bluebird Stamps that features the new scenic background stamp called By The Sea.  I decided to pair this pretty background with the cuties from the Fly A Kite stamp set since there was such lovely movement in the sky.

To create the card the 6 x 6 inch image was stamped to an A2 panel of cardstock that is Copic friendly.  I used Copic markers to colour the entire scene and then I added texture and dots using Copics and gel pens and finally I added a little sparkling glitter to the ocean and into the sand.  I set this aside to dry.

On more Copic cardstock the images were stamped from Fly A Kite.  Again, I coloured them with Copic markers softly and highlighted points with a white gel pen.  By now my background scene's glitter was dry and I set about applying the elements to the scene either directly with glue or for dimension with foam tape.

To finish up I stamped the sentiment on to brown cardstock using Versamark Ink and heat embossed in white, this strip was applied with foam tape.

The panel was applied to a nice and sturdy white cardstock base and was then complete.

Happy crafting!

My Favorite Things - Outside the Box Challenge - Birthdays

Hello and welcome to my blog on this Outside the Box Challenge day for My Favorite Things.   There's a new challenge and I'm so in love with the High-Flying Adventures stamp set with coordinating Die-namics that I thought I'd use them again in a somewhat masculine card, albeit with the all the cuteness you might expect.   The theme this month is 'birthdays'.

I created my card foundation using Tropical Teal Prestige cardstock and the Outside The Box Die-namics.  For the decorative outer pieces I used a sheet of Party Plaid 6 x 6 Paper Pad.   For the clouds I used the Outside The Box Cloud Die-namics.   I cut 5 of these and then assembled the box card.

I stamped the sentiment from Magical Dragons with Versamark Ink using the Stitched Sentiment Strips and heat embossed in white. I applied the sentiment strip to the front of the box card.

The High Flying Adventures images were stamped and Copic coloured, die cut using the coordinating Die-namics.   They and the little die cut clouds from the same set were attached using the connective pieces included in the Outside The Box Die-namics set.   Finally a few toning sequins completed this birthday card.

Be sure to visit the MFT Blog for the link to enter your challenge project and a chance to win the prize.  Best of luck to you, thanks for taking the time to stop by my blog today and happy crafting!

My Favorite Things - Color Challenge #162

Time for another My Favorite Things Color Challenge #162.  I hope you enter to win this challenge and that my card inspires your own ideas.   For this card I've used Distress Oxide Inks in Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron and Abandoned Coral and I used Gravel Gray Prestige Card Stock for the grey tone.

To create the card I first grabbed the Basic Shapes Circles Stencil and I worked my way around a panel of white cardstock variously blending with the three Distress Oxides I mentioned.   Once completed I trimmed the panel down just a fraction, backed it with white craft foam then adhered that to a panel of the Gravel Gray Card Stock.

Using more of the Gravel Gray CS I used the Sending You Hugs Die-namics die cutting 3 times from this beautiful heavyweight cardstock and then carefully adhering the lettering  in stacks.   I adhered the  letters/words to my decorative card panel.

On Copic friendly cardstock I stamped the images from Adorable Elephants and used toning pink and grey Copic markers to colour them, the balloon, butterflies and flowers.  Images were die cut using the co-ordinating Die-namics and either glued directly or backed with foam tape and adhered for some nice dimension.  Points were highlighted with a white gel pen to make them pop!

Three sparkling clear sequins completed the card and I adhered the whole panel to a sturdy white cardstock base.

Won't you play along with this challenge, you just might end up the lucky winner.  Visit the MFT website for more details and for the link where you will upload whatever you create.  Good luck!

Mushroom House Scenic Background Stamp - Hello Bluebird Stamps

It is finally release day at Hello Bluebird Stamps !!   The big background release and re-release goes live tonight at 7pm MST.  My card today features the oh so gorgeous Mushroom House background stamp which I've combined with Next Door Gnomes.

I stamped the big 6 x 6 inch images on to an A2 panel of Copic friendly cardstock.  I coloured the image using a relatively limited palette of Copic markers and used gel pens to add tufts of grass, dots and other little details.  This panel was die cut to give it the simple faux stitched edge.

Grabbing more Copic cardstock I stamped my gnome images and coloured them by using the same colour palette as the background.  Points were highlighted with a white gel pen then they were die cut, backed with foam tape and applied to the scene.

The sentiment was stamped to a strip of cardstock which was backed with foam tape and applied.   The finishing touch was the addition of a few water droplet style embellishments which suited the garden scene.  I applied the decorative panel to a sturdy cardstock base.

Thank you for stopping by and happy shopping spree everybody!

My Favorite Things - Wednesday Sketch Challenge #534

Welcome to my blog and another Wednesday Sketch Challenge #534 for My Favorite Things.  This challenge is for a slimline card and here below is my inspiration card.  I certainly hope you play along for a chance to win a $50 gift card to MFT.  You need to visit the MFT blog for the link to enter your challenge card.

To create this card I used the Basket Weave stencil together with Distress Inks in Spun Sugar and Seedless Preserves and I used Clarity Stencil Brushes to brush on the ink.  I first positioned the stencil top left of the panel and then once I'd ink blended to a fade I repositioned it to the bottom right hand corner and repeated the ink blending towards the centre of the panel leaving an area with barely any ink on it for a focal point.  I used the Slimline Starter Die-namics and die cut the stencilled panel.   I adhered this panel to a slimline panel of Grapesicle Heavyweight Cardstock.

I used the Skinny Strips Die-namics to die cut 6 sentiment strips from Grapesicle, Cotton Candy and Princess Pink Cardstock.  I stamped the sentiments from Wish You Were Hare to the strips, backed them with foam tape and carefully aligned them per the sketch and applied them.

I stamped the adorable Hare from the stamp set on Copic friendly cardstock.  I used Copic markers to colour the image, points were highlighted with a white gel pen and I then used the coordinating Die-namics to die cut the image which I backed with foam tape and applied it perched on the sentiment strip to ground it.

Last but not least I stamped the mini hearts and added a little colour  to them and finished with a few sparkling clear sequin accents.

I'd love it if you entered the challenge and I wish you the best of luck.

Woven Background Stamp - Hello Bluebird Stamps

Day 2 of previews for the new Hello Bluebird Stamps release of 7 new background stamps and a re-release in clear stamp format of all of the previously release rubber background stamps.  Today, my card uses the new 'Woven' background stamp.  The release goes live at 7pm MST on March 25th.

I stamped the woven image on to an A2 panel of white cardstock in my Misti so that I could accurately repeat stamp it for even coverage.  I used the Grassy Knoll die to create the grass/land piece which I ink blended and dotted in some interest.   This piece was applied directly to the Woven background with glue but I didn't add glue near the top because I wanted to tuck the cloud from Besties and the flowers from Picked For You behind it.

I die cut the Gallery Frame #2 Die using just the outer portion for this card which I adhered backed with foam tape.

I coloured the squirrels from Long Distance together with the birds from Picked For You using Copic markers and applied with foam tape.

To finish up I made the sentiments.  The 'hello' is from the Hello Friend word die.  I die cut it 3 times from white cardstock and once more from purple and I glued these together and adhered to the card.  I also added 'my friend' underneath.

A few sparkling clear sequins completed the card.   I'll be back tomorrow with another card which is release day.  Until then happy crafting!

My Favorite Things - March Card Kit Countdown - Cats and Plants

Release day is here and you can now get your hands on the brand new and super cute Cats and Plants Card Kit by My Favorite Things.  This is my third and final inspiration card playing with this kit.  If you missed my other two posts just keep scrolling after you've finished reading this one!

This card started with the sentiment which I just loved because just imagine what a bored cat can get up to what with lots of plants to batter and a fishbowl .... endless possibilities!   I ink blended a panel of white cardstock softly using Distress Ink in Stormy Sky.   I then took a second panel and used the largest circle from Inside & Out Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics to die cut the circular opening.  I backed this panel with dimensional foam tape and adhered it to the ink blended panel.

On Copic friendly cardstock I stamped my images from Housecats and I used Copic markers to colour the images and a white gel pen to highlight points.  I used the co-ordinating Die-namics to die cut these images.  I also die cut some of the Cat and Plant Perches Die-namics from kraft cardstock and included in the kit.  To build dimension some elements were adhered directly and some were added with foam tape.

The sentiment was added and a few water droplet type embellishments were adhered to finish up the scene.

You're going to find endless possibilities with this card kit so I hope you treat yourself and check out what the other Design Team members came up with!  Happy crafting!

Country Roads Scenic Background Stamp - Hello Bluebird Stamps

Hello Bluebird has an exciting new release featuring all backgrounds stamps.  This release will be available to buy at 7pm MST on March 25th.  There will be 7 brand new ones in all but also, all the previously released rubber backgrounds stamps are going to re-released as clear stamps going forwards.

To create this card I stamped the 6 x 6 inch Country Roads Scenic Background Stamp image to an A2 panel of Copic friendly cardstock using Memento Ink in Rich Cocoa.  I coloured the background image using Copic markers and accented with coloured gel pens for the tufts of grass and suggestion of flowers in the fields.

I stamped my images from Easter Egg Hunt and also Copic coloured those.   They were die cut, backed with foam tape and applied to the scene.  Points were highlighted with a white gel pen.

For the sentiment, I used the the Charlie Alpha Die and changed happy to hoppy to be a little punny.  Each letter consists of 5 die cuts with each one being glued in a stack and then using a ruler to align the letters before committing to glueing them to the card.  Underneath I just used the word Easter also found in Easter Egg Hunt.

The card panel was adhered to a sturdy white cardstock base and with that it was finished!

I'll be back tomorrow with a brand new background from the release to share with you!  I hope you join me for that.  Happy crafting!

My Favorite Things - March Card Kit Countdown - Cats and Plants

As promised I'm back with new inspiration in the form of a new card using the March My Favorite Things Card Kit called Cats and Plants.

To create this card I have used Housecats and the Window Dressing Die-namics from the Cats and Plants Kit.   Patterned papers are from the included Wallpaper Patterns 6 x 6 Paper Pad.

To make the card I did a super soft ink blend with Distress Oxide Ink in Spun Sugar on to a panel of white cardstock.  I die cut the window 3 times from white cardstock and adhered each one to the next to make a dimensional stack.  I did a little ink blending on the panes of glass using Distress Oxide Ink in Tumbled Glass (seemed appropriate)!  I die cut the curtains using patterned paper from the paper pad and backed them and the curtain rod with dimensional foam tape.  I set all of this to one side.

On Copic friendly paper I stamped the Housecats images and coloured them up with Copic markers finishing with a few highlights added with a white gel pen before using the coordinating die-namics to die cut each image.

I assembled the window placing one of the cats peering through from the outside and adhered the window down then added the rod and curtains.   The two other cats were adhered with more foam tape.

Just the finishing touches to go now and I stamped the sentiment to Stitched Sentiment Strip which I trimmed up a little to meet the card's edge, adhering with foam tape.

Twinkle time!  I used vanilla coloured jewel accents to finish things off!

Release goes live tomorrow and I will be back at that time with my 3rd and final card for the kit release so I do hope you'll join me for that.
