My Favorite Things - August Vault Release of Laina Lamb

The door to the My Favorite Things vault is being swung open at 10am EDT tomorrow August 13th and in it you'll find a lot of long lost Laina Lamb products many have been clamouring for.   I decided to create with the Donuts Die-namics to kick things off.  Here's what I've used to make this card:-

Sweet Summer Color Blend 6 x 6 Paper Pad
Blueprints 27
A2 Stitched Rectangles Stax Set 1 Die-namics
In Stitches Alphabet Die-namics

I created an A2 card base and over that I layered an A2 panel of pink cardstock.  I then used Blueprints 27 to create the scalloped panel in white which was glued in place.  Next I used the Stax Die-namics to create a panel from the Sweet Summer Color Blend 6 x 6 Paper Pad. This panel was backed with a panel of white craft foam and glued down.

Using the In Stitches Die-namics I created the letters I'd be needing from scraps of MFT cardstock and for the 'O' I used the smaller of the two Donut dies from the Donuts Die-namics.   I iced the donut in white and used the same cardstock scraps to create the sprinkles.

I used a glitter pen to add subtle sparkle to the white icing and then one by one I glued on the sprinkles so that they were nicely distributed.  I masked a straight line across my card and glued the letters along it, removed the mask and glued the donut down.

To finish the card I stamped the sentiment from Donuts & Sprinkles which is a coordinating sentiment set and I backed it with dimensional foam tape, found centre and then stuck it down.

For a simple finishing flourish I used Nuvo Dream Drops in 3 toning shades to embellish the lower right hand corner.  Card done!

My Favorite Things - March Vault Release

A new vault release from My Favorite Things is dropping tomorrow March 12th at 10am Eastern.  Lots to love in the form of products designed by Laina Lamb, some of you may recognise some old favourites in the mix.   My first card uses the following MFT products:-

Pretty In Plaid 6 x 6 Paper Pad

To create the card which is sized for an A6 envelope, I first created all of the layers in the back.  The largest was created from the Pretty In Plaid paper pad, 1/4 inch smaller is the Poppin' Pink layer and then finally a white layer which was again 1/4 inch smaller.

With the background layers all glued together and to the card base I then set about creating the focal point.  I used the Oval Stax Die-namics to create a focal point.  I ink blended using MFT's Caribbean Sea, Limelight and Lemon Drop inks.  I backed the oval with foam tape and applied to the white panel.

I used Cotton Candy cardstock and die cut the Flamingos.  Once die cut I ink blended using Poppin' Pink ink to add gorgeous colour and definition.  I assembled the birds, backed them with foam tape and applied them to the background.  I similarly die cut and ink blended the heart that floats above them.

I grabbed some white cardstock and loosely ink blended using the inks that formed the oval background.  From this I die cut the greenery which I arranged and glued in place.  I created the flowers with the same cardstock and ink combination for the Flamingos.  The flowers were applied with foam tape floating above the greenery.

I stamped the sentiment from Tickled Pink on a white sentiment strip and applied it over the bottom of the greenery with foam tape.

I added white highlights to the Flamingo's wings and water droplet accents to the oval background and with that this card was done!  I'll have another one tomorrow to share with you using more from this vault release.

My Favorite Things - February Vault Release

MFT is having an amazing vault release which you can buy at 10am tomorrow February 13th.   This release is 100% dies.  Great, basic and useful dies to inspire your creativity and that set the scene for your favourite stamps.

My card today uses:-

I cut a patterned cardstock panel to A2  size and adhered it to a larger panel of white cardstock then to my card base.  I then used Blueprints 29 to die cut sturdy white cardstock and I backed the die cuts with foam tape and adhered to the background.

I used Memento Ink in Rich Cocoa to stamp the images from Paper Planes and then I coloured with Copic colours to match the background:-

Dog - E44, E43, E31, E42, C1, C0
Pink - V01, RV00, RV000
Green - G00, G000, BG0000, C1, C0
Yellow - Y21, Y00, C1, C0
Clouds - BG90, G000

Images were die cut and applied to the background creating three mini scenes which all add up to one big one!

To finish the card I stamped part of one of the sentiments from Paper Planes on one of the other components of Blueprints 29 and then I die cut the encircled heart component also using white and pink cardstock and glued both in place.

My Favorite Things - Vault Release

Well a great big HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all and thank you for joining me today on my blog for the first day of two, featuring MFT's brand new Vault Release which is available to purchase NOW!  Here's what I've used to make this shaker card:-

Essential Sentiments
Skinny Strips Die-namics
Sweet Summer Color Blends 6 x 6 Paper Pad

I started by creating 3 x A2 panels.  The first was taken from the paper pad, the second was created from acetate (to create the shaker window) and the third was white cardstock.

I die cut the white panel using the Full of Heart Die-namics then backed the panel with the acetate using secure Scor-Pal tape on the reverse.  I then flipped this over and added foam tape around the edges and dusted the inner edge with anti static powder so that the shaker filler didn't stick to the sides.  I removed the backing paper of the foam tape and dropped a mix of shaker filler contents until I was happy with the quantity and colour mix.  I then closed the shaker unit by adding the patterned paper panel from the pad.  I was then able to glue this to the card base.

When creating the patterned paper panel there were some leftovers which nicely show the pretty blend of colours.  I took a die from the Heart Stax Die-namics and die cut in each colour portion so that the hearts on top of card echoed the blend inside the card.  Each one was adhered to a white cardstock die of the same size just to make them sturdy and a tad more dimensional and I glued them in place.

To finish the card, all I needed was the perfect sentiment and for this I went back to the Essential Sentiments stamp set which I stamped in the perfect toning pink ink namely Cotton Candy Premium Dye Ink from MFT.  I backed the sentiment strip with some foam tape just in the centre and applied it to the centre heart and with that the card was complete!

My Favorite Things - October Vault Release

Welcome to my blog today and the first of two cards (second is tomorrow) working with products from the NOW AVAILABLE Vault Release from MFT Stamps.  My card today features the exquisitely beautiful Stylish Snowflakes Die-namics and A2 Stitched Rectangles Stax (Set 2) Die-namics.

I started by ink blending a panel using Distress Oxide Inks in Black Soot, Chipped Sapphire and Speckled Egg.  Once blended I added a couple of drops of water to loosen some white acrylic paint and then splattered and splattered the background until I had a bit of a blizzard going on.   I then die cut the panel with the Stax Die-namics, backed it with a panel of white craft foam and glued it to an A2 white panel then to my card base.   Nice and strong!

I die cut the intricate snowflakes from white cardstock.   TIP:  You may find that rubbing the cutting side of the die with a dryer sheet before die cutting will aid in releasing the die cut from the back of the die without damaging it.   I arranged and glued the snowflakes to my background, only lightly glueing each snowflake in the centre of each so that the edges could be teased upwards for some subtle dimension.

To complete the card I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment which is found in the 'Christmas Characters' stamp set, on a black sentiment strip and applied with dimensional foam tape and the finishing touch was to adhere icy blue jewel type embellishments into the centre of most of the snowflakes.

Looking for a card design to mass produce for your holiday cards?  This one could be a winner and the backgrounds you could create would be endless fun.

My Favorite Things - May Vault Release Day

I'm happy to say that the My Favorite Things May Vault release is now available for purchase and today I'm sharing a CAS card created using items from the release.

My card features the following items from the Vault Release:-

I prepared two white panels for an A2 card.  One was full size and the other a little smaller.   I used multiple MFT Premium Dye Inks to create a rainbow of stamped brush strokes on the edge of the smaller panel using the Abstract Art stamp set.   The panel was backed with white craft foam and applied to the full size panel which in turn was glued to my card base.

I die cut one of the waves from Ride The Wave Die-namics and stamped CONGRATS on the one end from the stamp set Wavy Greetings.   I glued this to my decorative panel layered over the brush stroke rainbow.

Lastly I randomly stamped the star image from Wavy Greetings to follow the wavy line and with that this very simple, very quick to produce CAS card was complete.   Rainbows are always a good thing!

My Favorite Things - August Vault Release Day!

The door to the vault has been swung wide open at My Favorite Things and the release is now live and you can buy all of the featured and re-released stamp sets!   My slimline card here features the very fun Ready, Set, Snow illustrated by Birdie Brown.

Here's how I created this card.   I started out by creating the basic card form using Sno Cone Cardstock the Slimline Starter Die-namics together with Slimline Stitched Square Die-namics and for the snowy edge I used Stitched Slimline Snow Drifts Die-namics.

I ink blended a panel with Speckled Egg Distress Oxide Ink then layered over that my white snow edge, this was applied with foam tape for dimension and over that I layered the triple window die-cut, this was all backed with foam tape and applied to my card base.

I used a white gel pen to dot in some snow and some white Nuvo drops for some of the snow to be a little larger and more dimensional.

I stamped the images and coloured them with Copic markers.  Here's my colour palette:-

Bunny - E44, E43, E42, E41
Cheeks - R00, R20, R21
Penguin - W5, W4, W3, W2, R000, YR07
Visors - BG0000
Greens G16, G09, G02
Reds -  R39, R29, R08

Points were highlighted with a white gel pen then were die cut using the coordinating die-namics.   They were backed with foam tape and applied the scene.

To finish up I added some swoosh marks as the bunny's hat has blown away and I stamped the sentiment from Bitty Holiday Wishes to a long sentiment strip included in Slimline Starter Die-namics and using red ink.

Last but not least I used Stickles to glitter up the fir trees and with that the card was complete.

Happy shopping from the Birdie Brown sets being released today, I hope you enjoy working with them!
