Mixing Up My Stacey Yacula Illustrated Stamps for Purple Onion Designs

It's fun to go through my Stacey Yacula illustrated stamps for Purple Onion Designs and build a scene and fill it with all those pretty images.

The background was created by stamping images from A Beautiful Day.  They were stamped with Memento Ink in Rich Cocoa and then I used Copic markers to colour it all.  I dotted in a few daisies with a white gel pen.

The two blue birds and the largest raccoon are also from the A Beautiful Day collection.  The smaller raccoon, the tent and the clouds are from A Sweet Summer and the Ladybug, Bee and Snail are from Garden Blooms

All of the images were stamped on Copic friendly paper again with the Memento Ink and again Copic coloured and highlighted with the white gel pen.

I fussy cut the coloured images, backed them with dimensional foam tape and applied them to the scene.

The whole decorative panel was applied to a sturdy 110lb white cardstock base.  I chose to not have a sentiment on the front but rather to keep the card blank and I'd stamp an appropriate sentiment inside when I know what it will be used for.

I appreciate you stopping by, happy crafting!

Moose and Friends - Hello Bluebird Stamps

Moose and Friends is another of my all time favourite stamp sets by Hello Bluebird Stamps.  I thought I'd dig it out and show it some love today.

When you love some images so much you just want to colour them over and over again and that is when a background card comes in handy.  On Copic friendly paper I stamped my chosen images from Moose and Friends in a random pattern but making sure I had a somewhat even distribution of critters and then filling in the gaps with toadstools and cupcakes etc.

The stamped images were coloured with more Copic markers than I could possible list here but with an eye to keeping them soft and with slightly retro colours and I imagined this design for a baby's first birthday or similar.  Points were highlighted with a white gel pen and then the panel was die cut to give it the super simple faux stitched edge, then adhered to a 110lb white cardstock base.

To finish up the card I die cut the Make A Wish Die four times from white cardstock and once more from a toning peach cardstock.  I adhered them all in a stack finishing with peach on top and glued to the card.   Finally, I grabbed a silvery gold gel pen and added some shimmer to my candles and around the edges of the stars and party hats so that there is a little subtle added interest when the card is handled and it catches the light.

Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting!

Wheelie Great - Avery Elle Stamps

Hello!  This is Nicky with you today and I'm featuring the stamp set Wheelie Great for my card today.

To create this card I first created the background by ink blending to create sky and grass.  I distressed it with water splashes which I blotted up and then added a few dots of white gel pen for further interest.  This background was applied to a 110lb white cardstock base.  I then took the Dotted Frame die and die cut a panel of white cardstock.  This die cut was backed with foam tape and applied to the background.

On Copic friendly cardstock the images from Wheelie Great were stamped using Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black.   They were coloured up with Copic Markers, die cut and applied backed with foam tape.

To finish the card, points were highlighted with a white gel pen and the sentiment was stamped onto a strip of white cardstock, backed with foam tape and applied to the frame.

I appreciate you stopping by the blog today to read about this card.  Happy crafting!

Spring Showers - Sunny Studio Stamps

Hello everybody!  Today I am so happy to be guest designing for Sunny Studio Stamps.  I've created two cards using the super sweet 'Spring Showers' stamp set.  This first card also features the new 'Spring Scenes' stamps/dies too.

To create this card I ink blended the background and used a stencil from my collection to subtly stencil in the sunshine.  I distressed the background by splattering water droplets and blotting them up and then splashing on some paint.  I attached this to a 110lb white cardstock base which is lovely and sturdy for supporting such a dimensional card.

On Copic friendly cardstock I stamped the image from Spring Scenes and coloured it with Copic markers.  The sentiment was stamped and it was die cut, backed with foam tape and applied to the background.

On more Copic friendly cardstock the kids from Spring Showers were stamped with Memento Ink in Rich Cocoa and then also coloured with Copics.  They were die cut and applied to the scene with yet more foam tape.  Points were highlighted with a white gel pen.

To finish up the card I die cut the clouds from Spring Showers (without stamping them first), backed them with foam tape and applied them.  I also added in some flowers and butterflies making sure that the eye goes around the card.

Hope you like this card but now for something completely different using other images from Spring Showers.

This is basically a background card with some clouds and raindrops popped up on top.  To create it I took an A2 panel of white Copic friendly cardstock.   I stamped the three umbrella images randomly using Memento Ink in Rich Cocoa.  I used Copic marker to colour them and used a couple of pale blue colours to edge around them.  Points were highlighted with a white gel pen and I used a simple stitched edge die from my stash to define the edges a little.

The background panel was applied to a 110lb white cardstock base.

I die cut the clouds again without stamping them first.  I stamped the sentiments on some of them and then popped them up on different amounts of foam tape so that they appear to float.

The final touch was to glue the raindrop embellishments in place.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Fairy Garden - Hello Bluebird Stamps

I have a very girly and very sparkly slimline card for you today that uses Fairy Garden by Hello Bluebird Stamps together with their Pond Builder Die and Grassy Knoll Die.

I die cut a slimline panel (8 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches) several times over using the Pond Builder and Grassy Knoll Dies.   Depending on what each section was I ink blended that section using Distress Oxide Inks in Cracked Pistachio, Spun Sugar and Tumbled Glass and also splashed on some of the ink.  All pieces were reassembled, like putting a jigsaw puzzle together, with some portions being backed with foam tape to build dimension.

The sentiment was stamped from the Sparkle Script sentiment set and the panel was applied to a sturdy 110lb cover white cardstock base.

On Copic friendly cardstock I stamped the images from Fairy Garden, I coloured them with Copic markers and then they were die cut, backed with foam tape and applied to the scene.

It's tricky to photograph but I applied a great deal of sparkle in the form of Stickles glitter in 'Crystal' around the fairies and dotted through the pretty pool of water.  I used a white gel pen to add the ripples of water around the stones in the water and to highlight the hair on the fairies.  Finally, I used Spectrum Noir glitter pen all over the fairy's dresses.  This card is so pretty when it is handled as a result.

Happy crafting!

Valentine's Day - Purple Onion Designs

I'm mixing up my Stacey Yacula illustrated stamps for Purple Onion Designs to create this Valentine's Day card.

The branch and woodgrain background are from the 'A Beautiful Day' collection, the clouds from 'A Sweet Summer' and the critters from 'Garden Blooms'.  The card was made by stamping the woodgrain background stamp with Versamark Ink on to an A2 panel then heat embossing in white for a subtle look.  I then used a circle die from my stash of useful basics and die cut the opening.

A panel of cardstock was ink blended using Distress Oxide Inks in Cracked Pistachio and Peacock Feathers.  The panel was splashed with water and paint splashes and a few dots made with a white gel pen.  This panel was attached to a 110lb white cardstock base, the embossed panel was backed with foam tape and also applied.

On Copic friendly cardstock I used Memento Ink in Rich Cocoa to stamp the images.  I coloured them with Copic markers and then fussy cut all images, backed them with foam tape and applied them to the scene.

Finally, I stamped the sentiment and applied it with foam tape and a couple of Nuvo Crystal Drops added a minimal accent.

Thank you for stopping by today, I'll be back soon with a new project.  Happy crafting!

Maverick - Hello Bluebird Stamps

It's been a while since I played with the adorable Maverick stamp set by Hello Bluebird Stamps and the fact that I needed a more masculine birthday card for an aircraft enthusiast was just the excuse I needed to create this tall slimline card.

The finished dimensions of this slimline card are 8 1/2 inches x 3 1/2 inches (fits a size 9 envelope).  I created a card base and set it to one side.  I then created a panel and brushed on Tumbled Glass Distress Ink with a large stencil brush.  I splashed it with water droplets and blotted them up and then splattered on some watered down Peacock Feathers Distress Ink.

I die cut the clouds from Maverick without stamping the image first.  Some were applied directly and others were popped up on foam tape to build dimension.

On Copic friendly paper I stamped the Maverick images using Memento Ink in Rich Cocoa.  I coloured the images with Copic markers and die cut them.  I backed them with foam tape and applied them to the scene.

I grabbed the Happy Birthday Words Die and die cut red cardstock 4 times and once more from white cardstock.    I glued the stacks of letters/words together finishing off with the top layer of white.   I adhered them to the scene.  As you can see, having a deeper colour underneath the top layer creates a fun shadow affect and nicely picks up the colour from the little airplane.

In the image above you can see the red under the white a little more clearly.  To finish up I used a little scrap of the red cardstock and die cut the 3 stars from Maverick.  These were popped up on tiny pieces of foam tape.

The whole panel was adhered to the 110lb cardstock base which is nice a sturdy for a dimensional card of this size.

Happy crafting!

Spread Kindness - Purple Onion Designs

I have a CAS newborn baby card for you today using images from the Spread Kindness collection, illustrated by Stacey Yacula for Purple Onion Designs.

To create this simple card I stamped my images using Nuvo Hybrid Ink in Soft Suede by Tonic Studios.  I used Copic markers to colour the images and then I fussy cut them out carefully.

A panel of smooth white cardstock was ink blended with Distress Oxide Ink in Spun Sugar to create a soft focal point.   I backed the cart with one layer of dimensional foam tape and the blooms and sleeping mouse with 2 layers and assembled the scene against the focal point.

Again using the ink in Soft Suede I stamped my sentiment on a strip of cardstock and backed it with foam tape and applied it.  The panel was attached to a sturdy 110lb cover white cardstock base and I resisted all temptation to add any further embellishment since I wanted to go for utter simplicity.

This card would work equally well for a baby in pale blues or where gender is unknown in mint greens and/or yellows or a mix of all of those shades would work nicely.

So glad you stopped by today, hope to see you next time - happy crafting!

Cupids - Avery Elle Stamps

Hey there, it's Nicky with you today with a slimline card featuring the pretty Cupids stamp set by Avery Elle Stamps.

To create this slimline card that measure 8 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches I made a base and then created a panel to decorate.  I ink blended with Distress Ink in Tattered Rose leaving a focal point in the centre.  I stamped and heat embossed in gold the string of hearts, I also stamped the sentiment and then applied this background to the base.

On Copic friendly cardstock the images from Cupids were stamped using Memento ink in Tuxedo Black.  The images were coloured with Copic markers then die cut, backed with foam tape and applied to the scene.

To complete this card I chose some pale peach coloured sequins from my stash and applied them with glue.

Card complete and I hope this inspires your own Valentine's projects.  Happy crafting!

Pig Card for Hello Bluebird Stamps

Hello everybody and happy new year!   I'm kicking off 2020 by combining the Hello Bluebird Stamps pig stamp sets have always been amongst my very favourites, they are scaled to work together seamlessly and so I created this colourful birthday card.

To create this card I first ink blended a panel using Distress Oxide Ink in Blueprint Sketch and another panel using DI in Crushed Olive.  The sky was splashed with water droplets which I quickly blotted up and the grass portion splattered with more Crushed Olive ink.  The sky portion was attached to my cardstock base and the grass portion was die cut using the Grassy Knoll die.  It was backed with dimensional foam tape and applied to the sky portion.

I die cut some clouds from the Maverick set.   Each cloud is a 'double' in that I stuck one down directly and the second one was layered directly over the top with foam tape so you get a nice dimensional look when you view it from an angle.   The Big Birthday Wishes sentiment comes from More Jungle Littles.

On Bristol Smooth cardstock I used Ranger Archival Ink in Potting Soil to stamp my pigs and other images from Merry Pigs, Pig Day and Beach Babes.  They were watercolour painted using a limited colour palette of Kuretake Zigs in Light Pink (cheeks), Scarlet Red, Ochre, Cornflower Blue and Light Gray.  The pigs were done with Tombow ABT's in 800, 761 and 942.  Images were die cut, backed with either one or two layers of foam tape and applied.

A few points were highlighted with a white gel pen and a few sparkling clear sequins were attached for a little sparkly interest.

I hope that 2020 proves to be a very creative year for you and that you find lots of inspiration from here on my blog.   Consider signing up to have each new email post mailed to you and never miss another one.
