Pig Card for Hello Bluebird Stamps

Hello everybody and happy new year!   I'm kicking off 2020 by combining the Hello Bluebird Stamps pig stamp sets have always been amongst my very favourites, they are scaled to work together seamlessly and so I created this colourful birthday card.

To create this card I first ink blended a panel using Distress Oxide Ink in Blueprint Sketch and another panel using DI in Crushed Olive.  The sky was splashed with water droplets which I quickly blotted up and the grass portion splattered with more Crushed Olive ink.  The sky portion was attached to my cardstock base and the grass portion was die cut using the Grassy Knoll die.  It was backed with dimensional foam tape and applied to the sky portion.

I die cut some clouds from the Maverick set.   Each cloud is a 'double' in that I stuck one down directly and the second one was layered directly over the top with foam tape so you get a nice dimensional look when you view it from an angle.   The Big Birthday Wishes sentiment comes from More Jungle Littles.

On Bristol Smooth cardstock I used Ranger Archival Ink in Potting Soil to stamp my pigs and other images from Merry Pigs, Pig Day and Beach Babes.  They were watercolour painted using a limited colour palette of Kuretake Zigs in Light Pink (cheeks), Scarlet Red, Ochre, Cornflower Blue and Light Gray.  The pigs were done with Tombow ABT's in 800, 761 and 942.  Images were die cut, backed with either one or two layers of foam tape and applied.

A few points were highlighted with a white gel pen and a few sparkling clear sequins were attached for a little sparkly interest.

I hope that 2020 proves to be a very creative year for you and that you find lots of inspiration from here on my blog.   Consider signing up to have each new email post mailed to you and never miss another one.

Merry Pigs - Hello Bluebird

Hello!

I needed to make a Happy New Year card for personal use and so I called upon my favourite Merry Pigs by Hello Bluebird Stamps and the sentiment is from North Star, also Hello Bluebird.

I created a background using Distress Oxide Ink.  I ink blended the brighter colours of Cracked Pistachio and Worn Lipstick first and then used Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot to fill in and darken the scene for an amazing show of Aurora Borealis.  I used my heat gun to dry it quickly and then using Versamark Ink and my Misti Stamping Tool I stamped the sentiment and heat embossed in gold, repeating two more times so that the sentiment is very dimensional.  I then used some of the stars and also stamped and embossed although for the purposes of this card they are confetti which my pig seems to be throwing in celebration!

I applied the panel to my card base.  I then die cut the Gallery Frame #1 Die and the Gallery Frame #3 Die.   I applied the #1 cut with dimensional foam tape and then the #3 cut with more dimensional tape - making for a very deep and layered frame which gives the card a lovely substantial feel.

On Bristol Smooth cardstock I stamped my images with Ranger Archival Ink.  I watercolour painted them using Kuretake Zigs in  No.028 Pale Pink, No.045 Pale Green, No.021 Light Carmine and No.094 Gray Brown for the 'feet' and No.026 Light Pink for the blushing cheeks.  I highlighted some points with a Uni-Ball Signo white gel pen.  I applied the pigs to the scene using thick dimensional foam tape.

Card complete and perhaps a little inspiration for some of you looking to send some new year cheer!

See you next time and feel free to ask any questions you may have, thank you!

Merry Pigs - Hello Bluebird

Oh goodness!  Do I have some cuteness for you today or what?!!!!  This is Merry Pigs by Hello Bluebird Stamps from the new release that went live yesterday.

This is a 'slimline' card which are super popular right now and you can search and find Slimline envelopes online to make life easier.  Finished card dimensions are 3 1/2" wide x 8 1/2" so from an A4 sheet of cardstock cut the length at 7 inches then score and fold in half (4 bar).  My panel is cut from the remainder of the A4 sheet and the dimensions are 3.2" x 8.2".  Worth writing those down for future reference!

I ink blended my panel using Distress Ink in Peacock Feathers - fading away to nothing to represent snow.  I then splattered the background with a white acrylic paint solution mixed with a little water and set it aside to dry.

On Bristol Smooth cardstock i stamped my piggies and all of the other images using Ranger Archival Ink in Potting Soil.  I watercolour painted them and then fussy cut them out since at the time of making this the dies had not been supplied to me.  I then highlighted some areas with a Uniball Signo White gel pen and adhered them into position with varying amounts of foam tape for dimension.  The sentiments were stamped to two strips of cardstock using Gina K Designs Premium Dye Ink in Cherry Red and also adhered these with foam tape.  The entire panel was backed with white craft foam and mounted to the card base.

The finishing touch was to apply several wooden stars in 3 different sizes.

Hope you love the card?!!  Any questions or comments please use the comments section, I love to hear from you all and to try and help if you have queries.

Another card coming tomorrow from the new Hello Bluebird release (in fact it'll be 4 days in a row)!!!
