My Favorite Things - November Slimline Challenge

 

Time for a new Slimline Challenge for MFT Stamps.   Mini slimline cards provide a great alternative to the length of a full slimline card while still offering different proportions from a traditional A2 card. Here's the fun part — this month, there's no theme or technique requirement. Push yourself to play with the 3" by 6" size using any products, themes, or techniques in your arsenal.

My inspiration card uses the following products:-

Holiday Hello Stamps

Holiday Hello Die-namics

Skinny Strips Die-namics

I love creating snowstorm backgrounds and for this one I ink blended a mini slimline panel using Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot Distress Oxide inks.  I then splashed the ink generously with water and then mixed some white acrylic paint with a drop or two of water and tapped it off the end of a little paintbrush onto my project until I had the desired affect.

I stamped the images from Holiday Hello with Memento Ink in Rich Cocoa and coloured them with Copic markers:-

Santa - R89, R39, R29, C3, C1, C0, C00, T5, T4, T3, E04, E11, E21, E00

Reindeer - E44, E31, E41, C3, C1, C00, R89, B99

Picket Fence - B91, BG70, W1

Parcels - E31, W3, W2

Mailbox - T5, T4, T3, T2, R89, E44, E43, E42

Fir Trees - B99, BG70

All images were die cut then added with a single or double layer of dimensional foam tape.

I stamped the sentiment on a Skinny Strip and applied with foam tape and finally I added more splashes of the white acrylic paint over all of the die cut images avoiding some key facial features by covering them with a tiny piece of post it tap whilst I splashed.

My Favorite Things - October Slimline Challenge

 

Hello!   Are you ready for a brand new Slimline Challenge at MFT Stamps?  Christmas is such a special time for so many of us, and Christmas cards are a time-honoured tradition for recognising the season and extending heartfelt wishes for a joyous holiday to our friends and family. For this month’s Slimline Challenge, the assignment is simple. We want to see your best slimline Christmas cards!

Here are the products used in my inspiration project:-

Itty Bitty Holiday Stamps

To create my card I first created a mini slimline panel and I used pale gray ink to stamp in the subtle little trees in the distance then I ink blended using Distress Ink in Speckled Egg leaving a soft white focal point in the centre.

I stamped the images from Snow Sweet and coloured the images with the following Copic marker combinations:-

Bunny - W3, W1, W00

Girl Skin - E04, E11, E21, E00

Girl Hair - E51, E42, E44

Red - E39, E29, E27, T5, T3, T1

White - C5, C3, C1, C00

Black - T6, T5, T4, T2

Snowman's Body - C5, C3, C1, C00, R000, R0000

Blushes - RV14, RV42, R11, R000

All images were die cut and adhered with foam tape with the exception of the large tree which I 'frosted' by dabbing on some Snow-Tex by DecoArt and then added some stickles glitter on top of the snow and I glued this directly to the background.

I then carefully stamped in the bird's footprints and the seed they are feeding on.

After photographing this project I actually added a tiny amount of Stickles Glitter to the background trees so that it was even more dazzling when handled.

Finally the sentiment was stamped with Versamark Ink and heat embossed in white.  This too was applied with foam tape.

My Favorite Things - April Slimline Challenge

Hello and welcome to a brand new Slimline Challenge for MFT Stamps.   The challenge is for you to create a slimline card for a newborn baby or a newly minted 1 year old and I opted for the 1st birthday card option with my inspiration card.  I hope you play along with this sweet theme!

Here are the products used in my project:-

Slimline Starter Die-namics

To kick things off I prepared a full size slimline panel using the Princess Pink card stock and adhered it to a card base.   Next, I used the Slimline Starter Die-namics to create a white panel and I masked the edges and softly ink blended with Distress Oxide Ink, fading away to almost nothing by the time I reached the right hand side.  I removed the mask carefully and this panel was backed with white craft foam and applied to the pink base.

I stamped and coloured the Mice Day To Celebrate images.   Here are the Copic colours that I used:-

Mouse - E31, E41, E0000, R21, R20, R00, W1, W0

Cupcake - E44, E43, E42, Y21, YR20, E000, W1, W0

Cake Stand/Party Hat - R20, YR20, W2, W1, W0

Please note above that I use the low W Copic markers to shade and to mute tones for a softer and more vintage appearance.

Images were die cut using the coordinating dies, backed with dimensional foam tape and applied to the scene.  

I then used the Essential Alphabet Die-namics to create the large sentiment.   I die cut once from stick foam sheets and again from white cardstock and adhered the cardstock letters to the foam letters after peeling away the protective top layer revealing the glue.  I masked lines along which to align the letters and adhered them down one word at a time, carefully removing the masking tape after each word was complete.

To finish I used some pretty Nuvo Dream Drops to dot in some interest and with that the card was finished.

My Favorite Things - April Slimline Card Challenge - Spring Has Sprung!

Hi everyone!   My Favorite Things have their new theme up for the monthly Slimline Card Challenge and this month it is 'Spring Has Sprung'.   Let your creative juices flow and create a card in this theme like I have done below.

To create this card I first used both the Slimline Grassy Edges and Slimline Cloud Edges Stencils together with Distress Oxide Inks in Tumbled Glass, Twisted Citron and Rustic Wilderness to create the background.  I then used the Slimline Starter Die-namics to die cut the panel I'd created but I kept the skinny outer cut, adhered it to another slimline panel and then with the main panel I backed it with foam tape, carefully aligned it and adhered it down.

I stamped the images I needed for my design from Tweet Memories and Spring Songbird and coloured them with Copic Markers.  I used:-

Florals:  G07, B41, V12

Birds:  E0000, YR000, Y21, YR31, YR07, R00, R20 with W1 and W3

I used gel pens to add interest and definition to the florals and I highlighted points with a white gel pen.  All images were die cut using the coordinating die-namics.

I added these images to the card either directly with glue or with a single or double layer of foam to build some lovely dimension so they really pop off the front of the card.

Finally, I stamped the sentiment from Spring Songbird to a sentiment strip from Stitched Sentiment Strips Die-namics, applied with foam tape and then just a few sparkling clear sequins made the perfect finishing touch to a 'tweet' Spring birthday card.
