Sunny Meadow Fair - Purple Onion Designs

Hello there!  I have a new card for Purple Onion Designs today and I'm still having fun discovering all the endless possibilities that the new collection Sunny Meadow Fair by Stacey Yacula offers.



This card started with an A2 panel of 110lb white cardstock.  I used a sun stencil and Distress Oxide Ink in Spun Sugar to make the simple background and applied this to a card base made of the same cardstock.



I die cut two grassy edges and ink blended them using Distress Oxide in Peel Paint.  I adhered one down directly and the other is lifted up on some foam tape.

On Bristol Smooth cardstock I stamped my images from Sunny Meadow Fair and watercolour painted them.  The scarecrow and bird were painted using Zigs in Ochre, Mid Brown, Oatmeal, Mid Gray, Flesh Colour, Pale Pink and Light Pink.  The bird uses a Tombow ABT in shade 451.



I fussy cut the images and backed them with foam tape and applied them to the scene.  I stamped the sentiment from Everyday Blurbs in a toning pale blue ink and fussy cut and applied this in the same way.



Love, love, love that scarecrow, it couldn't be more adorable!

Finishing touches were to simply highlight a few points with a white gel pen and I then added a little fun sparkle with the different sized sparkling clear sequins by Pretty Pink Posh.

Sunny Meadow Fair - Purple Onion Designs

I'm still continuing to play with all the combinations that Sunny Meadow Fair by Purple Onion Designs offers.   These illustrations by Stacey Yacula are beyond irresistible.  Today I've navigated away from the fair scene and towards the little farm that lies on the edge of the meadow.



A background panel was ink blended with Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass and Twisted Citron.  It was then die cut with a Lawn Fawn background die to give the stitched cloud affect.  I used a white Prismacolor pencil to further define the clouds.



All images were hand stamped onto Bristol Smooth cardstock using Ranger Archival Ink in Potting Soil.  They were watercolour painted using the following colour palette from Kuretake Zigs - Fl Green, Light Green, Beige, Bright Yellow, Light Pink Mid Gray, Mustard, Oatmeal and Cornflower Blue.  I also used two Tombow ABT's in shades 020 and 991.



All images were fussy cut and I inverted them on a firm rubber mat and using a stylus and gentle pressure in a circular movement I made the cardstock 'dome' (avoiding the edges) - this makes the images look more dimensional and hides the foam tape quite well when viewed from an angle.  I then backed with either one or two layers of foam tape and applied them to the scene.



I chose to keep this card sentiment free so that it could be used for all number of occasions and so the finishing touches included just a little white gel pen highlighting, sparkling clear sequin accents and using a Distress Ink pen I dotted in some texture in the ground.

Sunny Meadow Fair - Purple Onion

I appreciate you stopping by my blog today.  I have a new card for Purple Onion Designs to share with you featuring stamps from the Sunny Meadow Fair stamp collection as illustrated by Stacey Yacula.



This card features an ink blended background using Distress Inks in Spun Sugar and Cracked Pistachio.   The main fairground background image was stamped with Memento Ink in Fog.  This panel was applied to the 110lb sturdy white cardstock base.



On Bristol Smooth cardstock I stamped all of my Sunny Meadow Fair images using Ranger Archival Ink in Potting Soil.  These images were then watercolour painted using the following colour palette.

Kuretake Zigs in .... Oatmeal, Mid Gray, Haze Blue, Green Shadow, Cool Gray (1), Pale Pink,  Flesh Colour and Light Pink.  I also used a Tombow ABT in 020.



All watercolour images were fussy cut. I flipped them upside down onto a firm rubber mat and using a stylus and small rotating movements and light pressure, I began to flex the cardstock so that it curve outwards.  This gives everything a lovely 3D look ... just avoid the edges.  If you haven't done this technique before I suggest you practice several times on images when it doesn't really matter!  You'll learn how much is enough and what is too much that way.



All images were backed with one or two layers of dimensional foam tape and applied to the scene.  Points were highlighted with a white gel pen and the sentiment was stamped again using Memento Ink in Fog.

Sunny Meadow Fair - Purple Onion Designs

I'm continuing to enjoy playing with the sweet images from Sunny Meadow Fair, the new stamp collection illustrated by Stacey Yacula for Purple Onion Designs.



For this slimline card (8 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches) I ink blended a panel using Distress Inks in Milled Lavender, Spun Sugar and Peeled Paint.   I then stamped the fairground background image using Memento Ink in Fog.



Using Versamark Ink I stamped the sentiment and heat embossed using Wow Embossing Glitter in Calypso.  I then applied this panel to a white cardstock base and set it to one side.



On Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock I stamped my feature images from Sunny Meadow Fair using Ranger Archival Ink in Potting Soil.  All images were watercolour painted using Kuretake Zigs in Oatmeal, Mid Brown,  S.Almond Pink, Pale Pink, Light Gray, Gray,  Cool Gray (1), Light Pink and Turquoise Green.  Also a Tombow ABT was in used in shade 991 (the yellow).  Images were fussy cut.



Do these cute critter images look extra dimensional to you?  It's not your imagination.  I used a trick whereby I flip the prepared images over on to a rubber mat and I use a round ended stylus and make circular movements (not at the edges) and using medium pressure until the image starts to dome or curl forwards.  Keep flipping the image to check progress and don't do too much or you can damage it but this adds wonderful dimension AND has the added bonus of making your dimensional foam tape less noticeable from the side.  Win win!



This last image shows you how the heat embossing sparkles nicely.  Certain points on my images were highlighted with a white gel pen and I decided no other embellishment was required.

Sunny Meadow Fair - Purple Onion Designs New Release

I'm so very excited to be sharing this card today which is made using a whole new theme release illustrated by Stacey Yacula for Purple Onion Designs.  It's a big release and it is called Sunny Meadow Fair.



You can buy the whole release HERE at a 30% discount but only for the first two weeks it is offered for sale starting from today.  There are 24 stamps and 30 images and will be $108.  My card today uses the Fairgrounds Background and the two characters at the front are Billy The Goat and Clown (Bunny Clown).

I stamped the Fairgrounds Background using Ranger Archival Ink in Potting Soil onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock.  I stamped the Bunny Clown and Goat the same way.



I watercolour painted my images using the following  - Tombow ABT in 723 and Kuretake Zigs in Light Green, Orange, Oatmeal, Green Gray, Bright Yellow and Light Blue.  Points were highlighted with a white gel pen.  The two characters were fussy cut, backed with dimensional foam tape and adhered to the scenic background which in turn was adhered to a 110lb white cardstock base.

To finish off the card I die cut a skinny frame using a pretty blue cardstock called Sno Cone by MFT Stamps.  I also used a little strip of the same cardstock and using Versamark Ink I stamped the Hooray! sentiment and heat embossed with a light pink opaque embossing powder from Wow!



Both the frame and sentiment were backed with dimensional foam tape and added to the card.  Last by not least a few sparkling clear sequins by Pretty Pink Posh were glued using Ranger Multi Medium Matte glue.

Card complete!

I made several cards for this wonderful new release and will be back very soon with another.
