My Favorite Things - June Card Kit - Beach Day

Friends, this is my fourth and final card using elements from the fun and oh so summery Beach Day card kit by MFT Stamps that was released June 21st.

Here's what I've used in this project:-

I masked a line on an A2 panel of white cardstock and above the mask I ink blended the sand using Antique Linen and Tea Dye Distress Oxide Inks and then I splash it with some watered down Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink.   I then blended downwards from the top of the panel using Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide.   The mask was removed and the sentiment stamped beneath the line.

I die cut all the sandcastle pieces I'd be needing for my design and ink blended them using the same brown palette as the sand beneath it.   Pieces were adhered together and glued directly to the blended background.   I also die cut the flagpoles and flags from scraps of MFT Prestige cardstock.

I love a little subtle sparkle and so I used a pale gold Gelly Roll pen to dot in some 'glint' to the sand so that it catches the light as it is handled.   This then completed the card.

My Favorite Things - June Card Kit - Beach Day

I haven't made anything as CAS as this in a little while but make no mistake I love clean and simple cards.   Do shaker cards count as simple?  I think they do, read on for all the details.

Here's what I've used to make this card:-

This is a 4 1/4 inch square card .... I do love a square card, something about the proportions!?   So I prepped a 4 inch square white panel and I die cut the circular opening and I stamped the sentiment.

I inserted the shaker pouch and used tape to secure it on the reverse of the top panel.    I then became a mixologist and filled the shaker pouch with a selection of micro beads and sequins and other shaker filler type embellishments until I was happy with the blend.  I didn't overfill it as I definitely wanted this to be a shaky shaker if you know what I mean!

To seal the shaker closed I used some acetate and then I adhered this top panel down to a 4 1/4 inch square panel which in turn was adhered to my card base of the same size.

All that was left to do was to die cut the white and red parts of the lifesaver ring from the new accessory die set from the card kit release.   The parts were glued together and then glued to the centre of the shaker pocket.

Such a fun little project!

My Favorite Things - Beach Day Card Kit Release Day

I'm happy to tell you that the Beach Day Card Kit from MFT Stamps is now available for purchase and I'm back with my second card using the kit  and this one has a very different feel from the one I shared yesterday.

Products used in this project:-

I used the A2 Stitched Rectangles Stax Die-namics both sets 1 and 2 to create the different sized panels.  The larger one was adhered to my card base and with the smaller one I set to work ink blending.    First I ink blended the sky, then masked a line where the sky and horizon meet and ink blended blow the mask to create the ocean.    I used the Sand and Surf Die-namics to create a panel which I just used as a mask for the sand which I ink blended.

I stamped the sentiment in my Misti and then backed this panel with white craft foam and applied it to the card base.

I die cut the beach hut from white cardstock and then used a Prisma Color Pencil in red to colour the pieces created.   I wanted to give it a weather worn and slightly shabby look so I made sure to add a little red to the white stripes too.   All the pieces were adhered together and the hut applied to the background.

I die cut the cute clouds and the seagulls are included in the Shady Palm Die-namics set.   These were adhered to my background and then I added some sparkles to the ocean using 'Stickles' as my finishing touch.

My Favorite Things - Beach Day Card Kit - Countdown Day 1

Tomorrow, MFT Stamps are releasing a brand new and very summery card kit at 10am Eastern.  The kit is called Beach Day and I have this card today previewing the kit and tomorrow I'll be back with a second.

With the exception of the sentiment, no stamping or colouring on this simple and soothing card, this is all die cutting.   I have used the following products for my project:-

I used Sno Cone, Chantilly Cream, Kraft, Princess Pink and Limelight card stock from the MFT collection of beautiful card stocks and I die cut using the new die-namics.   I put everything together layered over a panel that I'd ink blended a focal point on using Speckled Egg Distress Oxide Ink.

Everything was applied to the background using dimensional foam tape.   I used a white gel pen to highlight a few points including adding a few ripples to the water's edge.

I finished by stamping the sentiment which I love and which makes me sing 'the song' and I added a little sparkle with some sparkling clear sequins

My card tomorrow gives the beach hut a totally different feel so I hope you join me for that.
