Today is release day at Hello Bluebird Stamps, you can buy what you see in my card today and the previous 3 days at 7pm Mountain Standard Time!! My card today features Fly A Kite a new stamp set.
This is a slimline card with finished dimensions of 8 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches. A panel of this size was created, the edges masked and it was stencil ink blended with Distress Oxide in Spun Sugar. The mask was removed and the panel applied to the prepared 110lb weight white cardstock base.
I used pink cardstock by MFT and used the Grassy Knoll Die by Hello Bluebird to die cut two sections of grass and these were stuck down as seen.
On Strathmore Bristol Smooth the images from Fly A Kite were all stamped using my favourite Ranger Archival Ink in Potting Soil. They were watercolour painted using Kuretake Zig in - Beige, Mustard, Dark Gray, Brown, Gray Brown, Light Pink, Pale Orange, Yellow and Pink. Points were highlighted with a white gel pen and they were die cut and applied to the scene with dimensional foam tape.
The sentiment was stamped to a little strip of the same pink cardstock used earlier and applied with foam tape and several toning jewel embellishments were applied throughout the scene for a finishing touch.
Hope you've enjoyed my previews for this wonderful new release and are excited to treat yourself to some new stamps this evening. Happy shopping!

Nicky, I loved this card, and would go as far to say it is my favorite. I love pink, LOVE it! So your color palette choice drew me in like a moth to a flame! Medium and style - you use them both to the max! Zigs and the slimline card style for building scenes is definitely a win/win - you've showcased this set in the most adorable way!
ReplyDeleteThank you Susie, I love, LOVE pink too and you say the loveliest and most considered things. I appreciate that!
DeleteNicky, this card is AMAZING, your are an incredible scene maker!! I have been experimenting with Zigs, but alas, seem very heavy handed as I am with Copics! Do you use a filled waterbush, or paintbrush dipped in wayer to achieve your beautiful soft effect?!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all thank you! Second, I do apply my Zig directly most of the time and use a waterbrush to blend the colour our and then go in and add more and blend and sometimes once more, sometimes with a different colour for shading and blend that out. You need a light touch so to not rip the cardstock and I always use Bristol Smooth. The darker blues can grab the paper and not blend out so well. If you find a colour doing that, just put the colour to a stamping block or craft mat and pick the colour up from there. You can also use a Wink of Stella pen instead of a waterbrush for 'glitter watercolouring'. I'm self taught and it has just taken a lot of practice driven by sheer determination. Let me know if I can help further!
DeleteUgh, sorry for the typos...typing comments on my phone never works out so well! 😄
ReplyDeleteReading you loud and clear lol xx
DeleteThank you SO much, Nicky! I adore your style and could comment, "This is my favorite!"...wait, ""No, this is my favorite!" on every card you post! 😊
ReplyDeleteSo lovely of you to say that! Give what I told you a try and see what works. There are also very good You Tube videos out there from Jennifer McGuire and Sandy Allnock and many many others that you night find useful. In truth, there are many different ways to use Zigs, you just need to find what is right for you and the look you are going for. I sometimes use Tombows or Arteza's for watercolour painting but I don't rate them nearly as highly as the Zigs.
