My Favorite Things - January Release - 1 More Day To Go!

I'm very happy you have stopped by my blog today where I'm sharing this easel card that was created using the latest stamp set illustrated by Stacey Yacula.  Here's what I've used:-

The photo at the top of this blogpost shows the card opened into an easel in one of two positions.  Below is the card in it's second easel position.   A recipient can choose which position to sit the card open depending on the height it will be at but also the sender can choose to write above the inside sentiment or around it or just write on the back of the whole card.

Here's a link to an easel card tutorial by Jennifer McGuire.  Start out with a basic design and as you grow in confidence you can do endless more complicated, charming designs.  They're really not tricky!

So for this design I used Blueprints 27 to cut the same scallop edged panel twice.  I ink blended both panels after masking off the edges and stamped the larger sentiment.  I was then able to attach the easel to the back of the panels with glue.

I stamped the images from Micest Thing using Memento Ink in Rich Cocoa and I coloured with the following Copic markers:-

Mice - E31, E41, E40, C3, C1, C0, W3, W1

Blushes - R22, R21, R00

Ears - R21, R00

Hearts - R08, R22, R20

I then die cut with the coordinating die-namics.

Images were backed with foam tape and I also stamped the smaller sentiment and backed it with foam tape too.   I applied the sentiment for one position to sit the easel and then with the second position I made sure to align the top of the mouse with the top of the thought bubble so that the easily would sit straight if placed in that position.  I then stuck the elements to the main front of the card.

Points were highlighted with a white gel pen.

It's Spotlight Day 1 for MFT's December release which went live yesterday morning!  Today I have an easel card to share with you that features the new Crafty Friends stamp set illustrated by Jenoblade.  Here's what I've used:-

If you're not familiar with how to make an easel card then I suggest that you use THIS LINK which takes you to a wonderful tutorial by Jennifer McGuire.  Don't be intimidated, they're not tricky and Jennifer is the best teacher!

With the basic easel constructed I then die cut two panels using Blueprints 27.  One was patterned cardstock and the other was plain white.  The patterned panel was adhered to the easel with foam tape and with the second one, I used pale grey ink and I randomly stamped a wallpaper design using one of the sweet images from the stamp set, I then glued that panel directly inside the easel.

I stamped the images from Craft Friends and coloured with the following Copic marker combinations:-

Craft Table - C3, C1, C0, C00

Kitten - E31, E41, E40

Chick - Y21, YR20, YR30, YR0000, C1, C0, YR07

Pup - E42, E41, E40

Silver Tabby - C1, C0

Blushes - R22, R20, R00, R000

Marker Holder - R22, R20, R00

Copic - T2, T1, R22

Images were die cut and applied with dimensional foam tape.  I stamped HELLO on a speech bubble created using 'Say Anything' Die-namics and also applied this with foam tape.

I now turned my attention to the inside of the easel.  What you place inside needs to be dimensional so that the card stays propped up.   I decided to create 4 hearts using leftovers from the panel of patterned cardstock, stacking 3 white heart die cuts and finishing with the colour on top.  These hearts form part of Blueprints 27.  I aligned them and glued them down which creates one option for where to sit the easel and the second option for a more tilted view would be to prop it open on the postage stamp.

To create the postage stamp I used the Postage Stamp Stax Die-namics and masked off the edges and did a little ink blending using a tiny brush and colours that went with the patterned cardstock.  I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set and backed it with foam tape and applied.

To complete the card I used 3 different shades of Nuvo drops to accent the main image and I highlighted points with a white gel pen.
