Otter Friends & Basic Borders Die - Hello Bluebird

Hi!  Today's card pairs an older Hello Bluebird stamp set Otter Friends with their newer Basic Borders Die.  Some might look at this die (1 of 3 in the set) and see a pretty scallop but I also saw waves and so the idea for this card was born.

I ink blended a panel using Distress Ink in Mermaid Lagoon, fading it ombré style. I splashed it with water then blotted it up to distress it a little.  Next, I took the basic borders die and die cut the very top of the panel so that it was still A2 at its maximum.  I then took the similar die from the set which just cuts  a thin scalloped strip and die cut once from a scrap of white cardstock.  I glued this along the top edge of the wave cut to give it a finished look and highlight it.

I took the two wave stamps from Otter Friends and stamped the panel a few times using Versamark Ink and heat embossed in white.  The panel was then applied to a white 110lb cardstock base that I trimmed down just enough so that it wouldn't show and the wave border was all you'd see.

On Bristol Smooth cardstock (I favour Strathmore) I stamped my images using Ranger Archival Ink in Potting Soil and watercolour painted them using the following Kuretake Zig colours:-  Light Pink 026, Yellow 050, Oatmeal 064, Mid Gray 096.

All images were die cut, backed with foam tape then adhered into the scene.

The sentiment was stamped using Memento Ink in Bahama Blue to tone with the background colour.

Finishing touches were the application of different sizes of Sparkling Clear Sequins by Pretty Pink Posh.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today - hope to see you next time and feel free to sign up for emails every time I post a new project.

Nicky x
