Fairy Garden and Garden Friends - Hello Bluebird Stamps

Hello!  Very exciting day for us on the Hello Bluebird Stamps Design Team - we are starting Previews for the May 16th release (7pm MST).  My first card is a slimline card featuring the new Fairy Garden and Garden Friends stamp sets.

In a moonlit clearing deep in the woods the fairies and fairy friends gather beneath the toadstools and bluebells!

This watercolour painted card started with a panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock trimmed to 8 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches, the finished size of this card is for a size 9 envelope.  It was ink blended to form a focal point using Distress Oxides in Peacock Feathers, Lucky Clover, Broken China and Chipped Sapphire.  I splashed water on the surface and left it a minute before blotting it up with kitchen paper.  The panel was adhered to a 110lb weight white cardstock panel.

On Strathmore Bristol Smooth I stamped my images from Fairy Garden and Garden Friends using Ranger Archival Ink in Potting Soil.  I watercolour painted everything using the following list of Kuretake Zig  colours - Mid Gray, Deep Red, Orange, Oatmeal, May Greehn, Olive Green, Cobalt Blue, Light Violet, Flesh Colour, Light Pink and Orange.  Points were highlighted with a white gel pen and the fairy wings were adorned with Stickles glitter in Crystal.  All images were die cut.

To build depth the elements were all backed with different amounts of dimensional foam tape and applied to the background panel.

The sentiment was stamped with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder on a strip of black cardstock.  It was backed with yet more foam tape (I really get through this stuff) and applied.

The final touch was to use Ranger Multi Medium Matte to glue water droplet style embellishments to the scene and also liberally dotted in (but hard to photograph) more of the Stickles in Crystal.

This is a weighty, dimensional and very special card 'for a fairy good friend'!

I'll be back tomorrow with another reveal of the new release from Hello Bluebird Stamps.  Hope to see you then!

  2. Your ink blending and Zig skills are top notch! Oh I know it's the paper, and that's true, but it takes practice and an eye to bring these blends together well -- you have that touch! If this release had a name it would be "magical inspiration." Stories, lessons, and memories told in card form. And they begin right here. Beautiful art work on a card, Nicky!
